In this important phase, patients utilize the skills learned during their weight-loss period to plan and manage their eating and exercise habits for long-term success. Weekly classes cover portion sizes, reading food labels, grocery shopping, eating out and more.

Continued Maintenance

Diet Plan & behavior modification for long term results
This phase emphasizes ongoing strategies, nutrition and long-term behavioral skills to continue weight maintenance and healthy lifestyle habits. This year-long program is for those who have completed at least six months of Phase II but can benefit from the continued accountability and encouragement of monthly classes.

When you are obese or overweight, you become susceptible to a variety of health problems. Your body becomes prone to heart conditions, diabetes, increased cholesterol levels and hypertension. You also place yourself at risk for developing cardiovascular problems and even dying from a stroke or heart attack.

There are many reasons for being obese but all in all, the accumulation of toxins in the body especially in the colon is a very common factor.

We get toxins from the food we eat, the beverage we drink, the medications that we take and from being exposed to pollution and environmental hazards. To be able to successfully reduce weight, you must use a treatment that will remove toxins collected in the body.

In Ayurveda , Obesity is regarded as Medoroga – A disorder of Meda Dhatu- Adipose tissue and fat metabolism. It is one of the undesirable Constitution. According to charaka
‘Sthoulya’- ‘Santarpan janya vikar’- It is a over nutritional disorder

Causes of Obesity as per ayurveda are-

  • Life style and behavior- Sedentary life style ,Lack of physical exercise, excessive sleep, sleeping during day especially soon after meal ,Lack of sexual life

  • Mental cause- Lack of thinking, anxiety or anger. Cheerful mind

  • Genetic- ‘Beeja Svabhavat’ Irrespective of diet the person is obese due to genetic makeup.

  • Improper Dietary habbits.


Treatment of Ayurveda:

Shodhan chikitsa- This includes Panchakarma treatment

  • Vaman (medicated vomitting)

  • Virechana (medicated purgation)

  • Basti (enema therapy)-particularly Lekhan Basti.Herbs used in basti- Ushakadi

Shaman Chikitsa - It is pacification therapy with herbs, diet, exercises and lifestyle .Use of Bitter, pungent astringent taste. Some of the herbs used are Triphla, Vidanga, Guggulu, Shilajatu etc.
