Eliminate Dryness with a Vata-Balancing Diet
If you have excess Vata energy, you will likely have dry skin, produce a small, hard stool that is challenging to move, have trouble sleeping, and become susceptible to fidgeting, shaking, or other indications of abnormal movement. A Vata-balancing diet requires us to eat foods that nourish the body, moisturize the stomach tract, and usually build strength and a sense of groundedness.
Reduce Temperature with a Pitta-Balancing Diet plan
If you have extra Pitta energy, you likely suffer from skin irritability, profuse sweating, indigestion, and irritable thoughts. Generally, you have excess heat in your body, and you should gain from a diet of foods that reduce temperature. This will likely cause less distress in your digestive tract and allow one to experience better peace.
Decrease Moisture with a Kapha-Balancing Diet
If you have excess Kapha energy, you likely suffer from respiratory system problems, congestion, asthma, and over weight or obesity, and feel lethargic and stuck. Increased Kapha energy causes a buildup of moisture, such as congestion in the respiratory system. When you balance Kapha energy through an appropriate diet, you will reverse heaviness in the body.
Ayurveda Food Preparation
Whether you have a specific doshic imbalance you’d like to correct or perhaps you want to eat meals based upon Ayurveda practices for the benefit of increasing your health, you will take advantage of organizing and consuming simple foods that provide basic nourishment for your body. Many of these meals include several fresh fruit and vegetables cooked with a few basic spices or herbs, white basmati rice, and if appropriate for your constitution and the time of day, some dried beans. In case you are seeking to balance a particular dosha, prefer foods for balancing that dosha. If you are thinking about having a generally nourishing meal, select foods from each one of the three doshic guidelines.
For instance, make carrots (Vata) and cauliflower (Kapha) with cumin (Vata), and coriander (Pitta). Serve this with coconut oil (Pitta) and white basmati grain (Pitta and Vata).
Consider those following steps to prepare a basic dish of vegetables:
1. If you are preparing your meal with seeds (cumin, fennel, mustard), put some amount of oil in a wok over a medium temperature. Add the seeds after the oil has warmed up for a few minutes or so. Then the put seeds, proceed to step 2. If you are only using powder, skip straight to step 2.
2. Add diced vegetables to the wok with some water so that the vegetables will be steamed but not submerged. Add the powder spices and stir.
3. Permit the vegetables to steam before water has burned off, stir occasionally. Immediately remove from heat.
4. Melt ghee or pour oil in the vegetables and stir.
5. Serve with white basmati rice, and if appropriate for enough time of day and your figure, a dish of lentils or another type of legume.
